To mark Democracy Day 2025, the Rivers 2050 Vision project hosted a special X Spaces conversation titled: “Rivers 2050: The Role of Citizens in Governance”

Moderated by Ajibola Disu, the session featured insights from Udokanma Georgewill, a member of the Rivers 2050 Steering Committee and Chair of the Book Committee, and Ebenezar Wikina, Convener of the Rivers 2050 Vision and Founder of Policy Shapers. Together, they explored how citizens can move beyond voting to shape public life, influence development priorities, and co-create a future where governance is participatory, transparent, and inclusive.

From reflections on civic responsibility to practical steps young people can take to shape long-term planning, the conversation underscored the heart of Rivers 2050: a citizen-powered vision for the future.
