Our Vision
At the core of the Rivers 2050 initiative is a bold, citizen-authored document that will shape the future of our state: the Rivers 2050 Vision Book.
This book will serve as a strategic, visual, and people-powered roadmap for the sustainable development of Rivers State over the next 25 years. It is not a government white paper or consultant report — it is our vision, crafted by everyday people, young leaders, and sector experts across the 23 LGAs.
What the Vision Book Will Contain:
- People’s Voices: Direct insights and stories from citizens, gathered through surveys, townhalls, and interviews.
- Sector Snapshots: Data-driven analysis and projections across key areas — education, health, economy, energy, environment, governance, tech, and more.
- Expert Insights: Recommendations and trends gathered through focus group discussions with thought leaders and practitioners.
- Community Ideas: Innovative grassroots solutions proposed by the youth task force and civil society contributors.
- Visual Futures: Illustrations and infographics that help readers see what Rivers State could look like by 2050.
- Policy Pathways: Actionable steps for government, civil society, and citizens to work together in making this vision a reality.
Why It’s a Gamechanger
The Rivers 2050 Vision Book is the first of its kind in Nigeria — a long-term development framework led by citizens, not just policymakers. It signals a shift in how we plan the future: bottom-up, inclusive, and participatory.
- It puts people at the center of policymaking.
- It provides a clear direction for stakeholders, from the government to development partners.
- It aligns with global sustainable development goals while reflecting local aspirations.
- It empowers youth to take ownership of their future and participate in long-term governance.
Whether you’re a policymaker, private sector leader, activist, or everyday citizen, this book is a guide to where we’re headed and how we’ll get there together.
Once published, the book will be made available to Rivers people electronically and in hard copy, free of charge, to serve as the citizens’ manifesto for holding government accountable.
